When I look at some of my media files via my MAX Media Player it doesn`t display the names properly.

MAX Media Player doesn`t support special non-alphanumeric characters, and any files that have such characters in their name won`t be displayed correctly. You can always rename the files on your PC using conventional characters . Also, the PS2 puts a limit on how large file names can be; if your file has a very long name then this may be why your file names have changed or look identical. Again, you should rename the file using your PC.
