DSokoban

Perpetual PD favourite Sokoban comes to the DS with the inevitably-monikered DSokoban, a rather neat offering from Adree. The game’s mechanics are well known, but just in case you’ve never come across it before, it’s all about pushing boxes. And only pushing. You can never pull them, or edge them sideways; only push. You can only push one box at a time too, so be careful about moving boxes next to each other.

Each level features a series of boxes which must be moved, one square at a time, to the given goals. Push the wrong box in the wrong direction and you can render the level unsolveable. A unit in a corner, for example, cannot be moved at all as there’s no way of pushing it into a clear space. If you make a mistake, you can undo your last move, or restart the level entirely should you completely mess it up. Complete a stage and you get a warp code so you don’t have to start from scratch every time you play.

There are two modes in DSokoban, namely the new Treasure Castle, and the Boxxle Levels lifted from the PD classic. Both are fiendishly addictive, with puzzles ranging from easy-peasy to tricky enough to make you pull your hair out in frustration. It’s the ideal game for short journeys or a spare five minutes, though if you’ve more time to spend, it can fill an afternoon.
